Who we are
The site is run by FNVMap, an independent fan project. FNVMap is responsible for the processing described in this policy. You can contact us about privacy at any time at [email protected].
Information stored on your device
The interactive map saves a few settings in your browser's local storage so that the map works the way you left it. This includes the markers you mark as found, the marker categories you hide or show and similar map preferences.
This information stays in your browser. It is never sent to us or to anyone else, and we cannot see it. You can delete it at any time by clearing your browser's site data for falloutnewvegasmap.com. Because it is stored per browser, your progress does not move between devices.
Information processed by our hosting provider
The site is served by Cloudflare. Like any web server, Cloudflare receives technical information when your browser requests a page, such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested, the referring page and the time of the request. Cloudflare uses this to deliver the site, keep it fast and protect it from attacks and abuse. It may set strictly necessary security cookies for this purpose.
We do not combine this technical data with other information to identify you. Cloudflare processes it under its own privacy policy.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google, to understand how the site is used: for example which pages and maps are visited most, how visitors find the site, and which devices and browsers they use. This helps us decide what to fix and improve.
Google Analytics uses cookies (such as _ga) and similar technology to collect information about your visit, including the pages you view, how long you stay, the referring site, your browser and device type, and your approximate location (country or city) derived from your IP address. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. We only look at this information in aggregate reports and do not use it to identify you.
Google processes this information on our behalf. To learn more, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services. You can stop Google Analytics from collecting data about your visits by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on or by blocking or deleting cookies in your browser. If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, analytics cookies are only used if you agree to them in the consent message.
Advertising and cookies
The site shows ads served by Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info or, in Europe, at youronlinechoices.eu. If you opt out, you will still see ads, but they will be less relevant to you.
To learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services. Google may also use cookies or similar technology to measure ad performance and prevent fraud.
If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you will be asked for your consent before cookies are used for personalized ads. You can change your choice at any time through the privacy settings link shown with that consent message. If you do not consent, Google may show non-personalized ads, which use cookies only for purposes such as frequency capping, aggregated ad reporting and fraud prevention.
Information you send us
If you email us, we receive your email address, your name if your email shows it, and whatever you write. We use this only to reply and to act on your message, for example to fix a marker you reported. We do not add you to any list and do not share your message.
What we do not do
- We do not require an account, a sign-up or any form to use the site.
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not use analytics data to identify you or combine it with other personal information.
- We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Legal bases for processing
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on the following legal bases: our legitimate interest in running a secure and working website (hosting and security data); your consent (analytics cookies and personalized advertising cookies, where consent is required); and our legitimate interest in answering messages you send us (email).
How long information is kept
Data in your browser stays until you clear it. Cloudflare keeps technical logs for a limited time under its own retention rules. Google Analytics data is kept for at most 14 months and is then deleted automatically. Advertising cookies last for the period set by Google and can be deleted in your browser at any time. We keep emails for as long as needed to deal with your message and for up to two years afterwards, so that we can follow up on earlier reports, unless you ask us to delete them sooner.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask for access to the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict its processing, to withdraw consent and to receive a copy of it. Residents of the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom have these rights under the GDPR and UK GDPR, and users in India have similar rights under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
California residents have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request its deletion and to opt out of its "sale" or "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not sell personal information. You can opt out of personalized advertising at any time using the Google and industry links above.
To use any of these rights, email us at [email protected]. We will answer within the time required by the law that applies to you. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Children's privacy
The site is about a video game rated for mature audiences and is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
International transfers
Cloudflare and Google operate worldwide, so technical, analytics and advertising data may be processed in countries other than your own, including the United States. These providers use recognized safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses, for such transfers.
Security
The whole site is served only over encrypted HTTPS connections. Because we collect very little personal information, the main data that could be exposed is the content of emails you send us, which we keep in a secured mailbox.
Links to other websites
Some pages link to other websites, such as community wikis or the policies of our providers. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those websites. Please read their policies when you visit them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the site or the services we use change. The date at the top of this page shows the latest version. If a change is significant, we will make it clear on the site.
