About this Fallout New Vegas map
This is a free, interactive Fallout New Vegas map that puts every place in the Mojave Wasteland on one zoomable screen. It covers all 191 marked locations in the base game, all 116 locations from the four DLC worlds, and 2,158 collectibles, items and characters. That is 2,623 pins in total, each with its own name and its own page.
A Fallout New Vegas map with all locations and names
Most Fallout New Vegas maps you find online are a single picture of the Pip-Boy map with a few labels on top. This one is built differently. Every pin carries the location name used in the game, so you are looking at a Fallout New Vegas map with names, not a grid of anonymous icons. Click or tap a pin and you get the short version: what is there, what to watch out for and which quests start nearby.
Behind every pin is a full page in the locations directory. Each page lists the loot, the quests, the characters you meet, the enemies that live there, the collectibles hidden inside and the easiest way to get there. If you are trying to find a single place, such as Novac with its dinosaur motel and Craig Boone on the roof, type it into the search box and the map jumps straight to it.
A complete, high resolution map of the Mojave
The base map is a high resolution Fallout New Vegas map drawn from the in-game world and split into tiles, so it stays fast on a phone. You can zoom out to see the full Fallout New Vegas map, from the Spring Mountains in the west to the Colorado River in the east, then zoom in far enough to tell which side of a building a cave entrance is on. Roads, railways, rivers and the shore of Lake Mead are all visible, which makes it easy to plan a walk between two places.
It is also a complete Fallout New Vegas map in the sense that matters for a playthrough. Besides the 191 places that get a marker on your Pip-Boy, it shows the unmarked spots players usually miss: hidden caches, named buildings inside towns, campsites and graves. If you came looking for a poster-sized map to keep beside your screen, this does the same job, and you can also search it and tick places off.
How to use the interactive map
The interactive map works the same way on desktop and on mobile:
- Open the interactive map and pick a world from the map menu: the Mojave Wasteland or one of the four DLC worlds.
- Use the filters to show only what you care about, for example vaults, snow globes, skill books or merchants.
- Search by name to jump to a location, an item or a character.
- Click a pin to read about it, then open its page for the full details.
- Mark a pin as found, then switch on the option to hide found pins so only what is left stays on the map.
Your progress is saved in your own browser. There is no account to create and no limit on how many pins you track. You can export your progress to a file and import it on another device.
How big is the Fallout New Vegas map?
Obsidian never published an official size, but lead designer Josh Sawyer described the playable area as about 60 to 65 cells tall and 40 to 45 cells wide. The Capital Wasteland in Fallout 3 is 51 by 51 cells. On paper that makes the two worlds very close in size, with New Vegas slightly bigger. Fan measurements of the world space land in the same place, at roughly 8.5 square kilometres, a little over 3 square miles.
In practice, New Vegas feels bigger in some ways and smaller in others. The map is taller than it is wide, and much of its edge is mountains you cannot cross, so most of the action sits along a central band: from Goodsprings and Primm in the south-west, up through Novac and the Strip, to Jacobstown and Nellis in the north. Fallout 3 spreads its locations more evenly over its square map. If you are asking which map is bigger, Fallout 3 or New Vegas, the honest answer is that they are about the same.
The Fallout New Vegas map compared to real life
The Mojave Wasteland is based on the real Mojave Desert around Las Vegas. According to Sawyer, the team built the terrain from USGS topographic data and drew the borders along real natural features such as the Spring Mountains and the Colorado River. That is why the Fallout New Vegas map lines up so well with a road map of southern Nevada.
Many places on the map are real. Goodsprings is a real town, and its Prospector Saloon is modelled on the Pioneer Saloon there. Primm, Nipton, Searchlight, Boulder City, Hoover Dam, Lake Mead, Red Rock Canyon, Black Mountain, Nellis Air Force Base and the Las Vegas Strip all exist. Others, like Novac and the vaults, are invented. The big difference between the Fallout New Vegas map and real life is distance. Goodsprings to the Strip is a short walk in the game, but in real life it is about 35 miles of desert. So the map is accurate in layout and heavily compressed in scale.
Maps for all four DLC worlds
Each add-on has its own world map with its own pins and progress tracking. You can switch between them from the map menu or from the DLC overview.
- Sierra Madre from Dead Money: the Villa, the casino and the streets filled with the Cloud.
- Zion Canyon from Honest Hearts: the canyon you reach through the Northern Passage, just north of New Vegas.
- Big MT from Old World Blues: the Think Tank, Higgs Village and the X-labs.
- The Divide from Lonesome Road: the ruined road to the Courier's past and its missile silos.
Collectible guides that link back to the map
If you are going for completion, the collectible guides work as checklists. Each one lists the exact spot for every item and links to its pin, so you can switch between reading and searching without losing your place.
- Snow globes, worth 2,000 caps each at the Lucky 38.
- Skill books that permanently raise a skill.
- Star bottle caps for the Sunset Sarsaparilla quest.
- Unique weapons and unique armor with their locations.
- Companions and where to recruit each one.
- Vaults and what you find inside them.

Fallout New Vegas map FAQ
How many locations are on the Fallout New Vegas map?
The base game has 187 marked locations in the Mojave Wasteland, and every one is on this map with its own page. The four DLCs add 116 more on their own maps: Sierra Madre (7), Zion Canyon (51), Big MT (35) and The Divide (23). The map also shows 162 unmarked places such as hidden caches and named buildings, for 465 locations in all.
How big is the Fallout New Vegas map?
There is no official figure. Lead designer Josh Sawyer described the playable area as roughly 60 to 65 cells tall and 40 to 45 cells wide, and fan measurements put the world at about 8.5 square kilometres, a little over 3 square miles. Much of the edge is mountains you cannot cross, so the part you actually walk through feels smaller than the full map.
Which map is bigger, Fallout 3 or New Vegas?
They are about the same size. The Capital Wasteland in Fallout 3 is 51 by 51 cells, while the Mojave is about 60 to 65 cells tall and 40 to 45 wide, so New Vegas is slightly bigger on paper. New Vegas has more impassable mountains around its edges and Fallout 3 spreads its locations more evenly, so neither one feels clearly larger.
How accurate is the Fallout New Vegas map to real life?
The layout is accurate, the distances are not. Obsidian built the terrain from USGS topographic data, and real places such as Goodsprings, Primm, Nipton, Searchlight, Boulder City, Hoover Dam, Lake Mead, Red Rock Canyon and Nellis Air Force Base sit roughly where they are in Nevada. Distances are heavily compressed: Goodsprings to the Strip is about 35 miles in real life but a short walk in the game.
How do you open the map in Fallout New Vegas?
Open your Pip-Boy (Tab on PC, B on Xbox, Circle on PlayStation), go to the Data tab and choose World Map. Local Map, in the same tab, shows the area right around you. Select any location you have already visited to fast travel there.
How do I unlock all map markers in Fallout New Vegas?
Take the Explorer perk at level 20 and every marked location appears on your Pip-Boy map at once. You still have to visit a place before you can fast travel to it. Talking to people and reading notes also adds markers as you play. On PC, the console command tmm 1 reveals every marker and lets you fast travel to all of them, at the cost of skipping the exploration.
Where is New Vegas on the map?
The New Vegas Strip is the walled city in the upper middle of the Mojave map, just north of Freeside. You reach it through Freeside, and the Securitrons at the Strip gate only let you in if you pass a 2,000-cap credit check or find another way past them.
What is Chance's Map in Fallout New Vegas?
Chance's Map is a marked location along Nevada State Route 160, north of Goodsprings and south-west of the Strip. It is a rough map of the Mojave carved into the ground by the Great Khans who worked with Benny before the ambush outside Goodsprings: McMurphy sketched it and Chance cut the lines deeper with his knife. Chance is buried in the hills north of Goodsprings, and his grave holds Chance's knife.
Where is the map of Zion in Fallout New Vegas?
Zion Canyon is the world of the Honest Hearts DLC and has its own map. To get there, go to the Northern Passage, just north of the New Vegas Strip, and join the Happy Trails Caravan. When you arrive, your Pip-Boy switches to the Zion map. All 51 Zion locations are on our Zion Canyon map.
What is the fastest route from Goodsprings to New Vegas?
The intended route follows the road south to Primm, then east to Nipton and north through Novac and the 188 Trading Post. The direct route north past Sloan is shorter but Quarry Junction is full of deathclaws, and the pass by Black Mountain has super mutants.
Does this map include the DLC maps?
Yes. Every DLC world has its own interactive map: Sierra Madre (Dead Money), Zion Canyon (Honest Hearts), Big MT (Old World Blues) and The Divide (Lonesome Road). Each one has every marked location, the DLC snow globe, unique weapons and armor, companions and merchants. Switch worlds with the map menu in the top left corner.
Can I track what I have found without an account?
Yes. Click any marker and mark it as found. Progress is stored in your browser, with no login and no limit on how many markers you can track. You can export your progress as a file and import it on another device.
