Black Rock Cave is a small cave in the hills northwest of HELIOS One and southeast of Black Mountain, below the giant radar dishes. The entrance is easy to miss among the dark rocks, and radscorpions of various sizes often lurk outside. Inside it is a short cavern rather than a sprawling tunnel system, which keeps the visit brief.
The cave belongs to three heavily armed nightkin, including a nightkin master, and all of them use Stealth Boys, so you may hear them before you see them. They hit hard and can corner you in the tight space, so bring good armor, plenty of healing and a way to deal with cloaked enemies. They may be friendly if you finished Crazy, Crazy, Crazy by repairing Rhonda, but that is not guaranteed.
The prize is the Paladin Toaster, a unique weapon on the body of a dead prospector in the middle of the cave, and there is a hollowed-out rock just outside the entrance. No quest is tied to Black Rock Cave, but it makes a reasonable stop before you climb toward Black Mountain and the Crazy, Crazy, Crazy quest.
How to get there
Northwest of HELIOS One; climb into the hills toward Black Mountain and the entrance is in the rock face below the giant radar dishes.
Tips
- Three cloaked nightkin inside; bring heavy firepower and healing.
- Loot the dead prospector for the Paladin Toaster.
