Neil's Shack is a one-room shack at the foot of Black Mountain, on the dirt road that winds up to the radio station. Neil is a super mutant who has no interest in Tabitha's State of Utobitha, so he keeps to himself down here and warns travelers off the mountain. He is one of the few friendly super mutants in the Mojave and will talk calmly if you approach without shooting first.
Neil matters for the quest Crazy, Crazy, Crazy, which starts when you approach Black Mountain. Pass a Speech 50 check and he agrees to help: he runs ahead, meets you near the summit and lures most of the nightkin guarding Tabitha's compound away, which makes reaching Tabitha and Raul much easier. You still have to deal with the super mutant patrols on the road up yourself. His shack holds a mattress you can sleep on and a couple of frag grenades on a shelf. Treat it as the starting line for Black Mountain and a safe spot to sleep before the climb.
How to get there
From Sloan head east toward Black Mountain; the shack stands beside the dirt road at the base of the climb.
