Part of Nipton

Nipton Town Hall was the seat of the town before and after the Great War. Under Mayor Joseph B. Steyn, Nipton grew corrupt, and Steyn tried to sell out both the NCR soldiers and the Powder Gangers who used the town to Caesar's Legion through the frumentarius Vulpes Inculta. Instead, Vulpes's men rounded everyone up and ran a lottery that left the townsfolk dead, crucified or enslaved, and the hall is still full of their remains and discarded lottery tickets.

The building has a cellar and three floors, and the Legion left frag mines behind the reception desk and on a body upstairs. Legion mongrels prowl inside and attack unless you have Animal Friend, even if you wear Legion armor. The second floor holds a large assembly hall, and the top floor leads to Steyn's office, where his terminal adds his journal to your Pip-Boy.

Steyn's office is the prize: a Big Book of Science, Future Weapons Today, Programmer's Digest, a laser pistol and some Mentats. Behind the desk, an Average-locked closet holds a gun cabinet with a 10mm pistol and ammo, cigarette cartons and a Nuka-Cola Victory. A worn key behind the reception counter opens the Hard-locked cellar, which has food, Turbo, a first aid kit and more lottery tickets.

How to get there

Walk up Nipton's main street; the town hall stands at the far north end.

Notable loot

  • Big Book of Science (mayor's office)
  • Future Weapons Today and Programmer's Digest (mayor's office cabinet)
  • Nuka-Cola Victory and 10mm pistol (Average-locked closet behind the mayor's desk)
  • Worn key (behind the reception counter, opens the cellar)
  • Mayor Steyn's journal (from his terminal)

Tips

  • Watch for the frag mine behind the front desk and the trapped body in the office across from the east stairs.
  • Killing the mongrels costs no Legion infamy, so clear them if they come at you.
