The Old Nuclear Test Site is a pre-war weapons test range and waste dump that sits roughly between Caesar's Legion Safehouse to the northwest and the Crashed Vertibird to the southeast. Decades later the area is still highly radioactive. The compound is mostly fenced off, and on a hill to the northwest you will find an observation area with five chairs and five pairs of Authority Glasses still facing the test ground.
Feral ghoul reavers and glowing ones live inside the site, with regular feral ghouls in the hills around it, so this is no place for a low-level visit. Radiation peaks near the Nuclear Test Shack rather than in the crater, reaching about 9 rads per second by the door, and the shack itself is irradiated. Inside, Trash's body lies on the bed beside her Die-ary entries about trying to turn herself into a ghoul.
The shack holds a copy of Nikola Tesla and You and a Sunset Sarsaparilla star bottle cap on the table with the chemistry set, plus a hunting shotgun on the floor and reinforced leather armor on Trash. If you freed the Powder Gangers in Booted, the two survivors walk here and will likely die to the ghouls unless you clear the area before they arrive.
How to get there
From Caesar's Legion Safehouse, head southeast toward the fenced compound in the low ground.
