The Sunset Sarsaparilla Headquarters is the soft drink company's pre-War office building and regional bottling plant, west of the NCR sharecropper farms and northwest of the El Rey Motel. You walk in through the giant fake sarsaparilla bottle over the entrance, and just inside waits Festus, a cowboy robot who tells you about the company's old star bottle cap contest. Hundreds of empty sarsaparilla bottles litter the building.
Festus starts The Legend of the Star, which asks you to bring him 50 Sunset Sarsaparilla star bottle caps collected from all over the Mojave. Hand them over and the follow-up, A Valuable Lesson, opens the prize vault at the back of the second floor of the factory. Inside are the remains of Allen Marks, another treasure hunter, with the unique Pew Pew laser pistol and a holotape, plus crates holding roughly 1,500 caps and piles of deputy badges.
The building is not empty. Sunset Sarsaparilla security Protectrons patrol the floors, and a lone bottling robot in the bottling room turns hostile once it realizes you are not its master. A terminal can switch on Mr. Janitor, a maintenance robot that gathers loose caps. Look for a star cap in the Average-locked wall safe in Miss Paige's office, and grab the full bottles of Sunset Sarsaparilla stacked behind the active bottling robot.
