The Y-0 research center sits in the far north of Big MT. Two broken military trucks with broken cages block its entrance, so you cannot go inside. A working terminal beside the blocked door explains that the Sierra Madre vending machines were tested or built here, a nice link to Dead Money. Over the intercom, Doctor Mobius jokes that Doctor Klein destroyed Y-0 through a miscalculation, then wonders whether he was the one responsible after all.
Two piles of loot make the trip worthwhile. A Big Book of Science lies near a skeleton and a duffle bag just south of the two trucks. Climb one of the trucks to reach the roof, where another skeleton and duffle bag sit beside the Recipes: Melee Weapons Skill Book holotape. Xander root grows along the western path from the roof, which continues southwest to the X-22 botanical garden.
How to get there
Follow the northern rim of the crater west from the Forbidden Zone dome entrance.
