Ant Mound

The Ant Mound is an old, dilapidated farm south of the Allied Technologies Offices and Camp McCarran, northwest of REPCONN Headquarters, that has been taken over by fire ants. A pair of dead brahmin lie in the corral, and up to seven fire ants guard the barn. The entrance to the underground part of the mound is hidden inside the barn.

The ants are the attraction and the danger. These are fire ants, which breathe fire at close range, and inside the tunnels you will face more of them along with a unique fire ant queen, among the bodies of a few dead settlers. A fresh Courier with a 9mm pistol can get overwhelmed, so fight from range and use the terrain so they come at you one or two at a time.

Come here for easy experience and ant nectar, which you can collect from the ant refuse piles around the barn. Up the stairs inside the barn are two metal boxes, a footlocker, two toolboxes, a grenade box and an ammunition box, and the queen sometimes carries ant queen pheromones. It is a short detour from McCarran or Hunter's Farm and worth marking so you can fast travel into the area later.
