Bitter Springs is an NCR refugee camp in the far northeast of the Mojave, set in a gully almost completely ringed by rock. It was built on the site of the Bitter Springs Massacre, where NCR forces acting on bad intelligence killed Great Khan non-combatants who had used the place as a semi-permanent home. The NCR flag flies upside down as a distress signal, and Great Khan graffiti still marks the rocks around the camp.

Captain Gilles runs the camp and needs help. No, Not Much covers medical supplies, Great Khan supply caches from nearby caves and reinforcements from the NCR camps, while Climb Ev'ry Mountain has you track down a sniper who has been killing refugees and soldiers. Lieutenant Markland, the camp doctor, gives Bitter Springs Infirmary Blues, which asks for doctor's bags and extra training in psychology and pediatrics.

Bitter Springs is also a key stop in Craig Boone's companion quest, I Forgot to Remember to Forget. Twelve graves sit to the southwest, with a Great Khan spike helmet resting on one of them. Geckos or cazadores sometimes wander in and attack the refugees, so be ready for the odd fight. There is little loot, but the quests make it worth the long walk out here.

How to get there

From Coyote Tail Ridge, follow the trail northeast down into the gully camp.
