Mole Rat Ranch is a large open area southwest of Fields' Shack, between Freeside and Nellis, where someone has been keeping a pack of friendly mole rats. When you first arrive, a hostile brahmin is usually among them and has often killed the whole pack already, and unless you have Animal Friend it will come for you too. A short way northeast is the farm the brahmin came from, where a trough full of meat scraps suggests someone trained it to eat meat.
The real reason to stop is a ruined building northeast of the ranch. Both of its doors are booby-trapped, and a Hard-locked room inside holds a sniper rifle along with copies of Locksmith's Reader, True Police Stories and Patriot's Cookbook. Kill the brahmin quickly if you want to save any surviving mole rats, though both the mole rats and the brahmin come back over time.
How to get there
From the New Vegas Medical Clinic, head a short way north-northeast toward Fields' Shack.
