Mysterious cave

A hidden bloatfly cave in northeast Big MT, home of a Legendary bloatfly loaded with Psycho and Buffout.

The Mysterious cave lies south-southeast of the Big MT north tunnel and southeast of the Forbidden Zone dome entrance. Its layout is almost the same as Broc Flower Cave in the Mojave, minus the radioactive barrels and torches. It is easy to miss because its compass marker often only shows up when you are standing near the Forbidden Zone, and no quest sends you here. The tunnels are full of bloatflies, and a large chamber on the left branch from the entrance is home to a Legendary bloatfly.

The Legendary bloatfly is the reason to visit: its body carries a big pile of bloatfly meat along with Psycho and Buffout. Take the right branch from the entrance to reach a balcony that overlooks its chamber, which makes a safe sniping spot. Elsewhere you can collect mutant cave fungus, a set of scientist scrubs and a Scientist glove, and a small side cave has a little loot and a cot you can sleep in.

How to get there

From the Forbidden Zone dome entrance head southeast; the cave also sits just west of Elijah's Watch.

Tips

  • Snipe the Legendary bloatfly from the balcony on the right branch.
  • Use the cot to rest without returning to the Sink.
  • Its marker often only appears from the Forbidden Zone, so note its position on the map.
