Smith Mesa Prospector Camp is a makeshift bunker built into a small cave on a mesa, south of Cottonwood Overlook and northeast of Blue Paradise Vacation Rentals. A prospector's dog lives here with no sign of its owner, and a campfire sits just outside. Fire geckos wander the surrounding area, and many lakelurks gather along the water to the east, so the walk in can be rougher than the camp itself.
The main find is a Sunset Sarsaparilla star bottle cap on top of the cinderblock behind the radio. Beyond that, the camp is useful as a base. Items left in its containers do not disappear, so you can use it as a stash in the far south, and the bedroll gives you a place to sleep, which is a real help on Hardcore Mode while you work around Cottonwood Cove.
How to get there
From Cottonwood Overlook, head south along the mesa until you find the small cave bunker.
