Broc Flower Cave

Broc Flower Cave is a winding cave in the hills north-northwest of Camp Searchlight, named for the broc flowers growing around its entrance, the biggest patch of them in the game. Broc flower is one half of the healing powder recipe, so Survival-minded players should pick every one they see. The cave itself is home to giant rats that hit unusually hard, and parts of it are strewn with radioactive barrels that will tick your Geiger counter up if you linger too long.

The reason most players come here is the Ratslayer, a unique varmint rifle with a night scope, silencer and extended magazine, leaning against a desk in a makeshift lab on the upper level. It is one of the best stealth weapons available early in the game and makes short work of the rats on the way out. The lab also holds stimpaks, Med-X, RadAway and a radiation suit, and the final cavern is where Jane's brahmin turns up during Debt Collector. Bring Rad-X for the contaminated section, and watch your footing on the sloping tunnels where rats attack from several directions at once.
