Cannibal Johnson's Cave

Cannibal Johnson's Cave is a small hillside cave southeast of the Strip, southwest of Vault 34 and northwest of Camp Golf. The sole resident is Cannibal Johnson, once a squad marksman for the Enclave and now a hermit. He stands by a campfire just inside, next to an Enclave footlocker and his bed, and he is not hostile unless you give him a reason. Watch for the bear trap right in front of the entrance.

The cave matters for Arcade Gannon's companion quest For Auld Lang Syne. Johnson served in the same Enclave squad as Arcade's father, and once Arcade trusts you he asks you to gather the old crew. Johnson agrees to come to the Remnants reunion after a talk and gives you his word of the bunker passphrase, "old". He will fight at Hoover Dam for the NCR, but if you tell the Remnants to back the Legion he walks out of the meeting. As for the nickname, he says he once bit into the heart of a raider he had killed to scare off the rest of the gang.

Further back, a path leads down to a room full of coyote, night stalker and mole rat carcasses and pools of what looks like blood but is really clean water, though drinking it counts as stealing. The cave also holds a Grognak the Barbarian on Johnson's bed and the only mole rat wonder meat in the Mojave on a cutting board. Visit when you are working through Arcade's story; otherwise it is a minor marker in the hills between the Strip and Camp Golf.
