The Cazador Nest is an open stretch of rocky ground west of Ranger Station Delta and southwest of Hoover Dam where a large group of cazadores has settled. There is no cave or interior, just the nest area itself, the skeleton of someone who did not know better, and a swarm of brightly colored flying insects that will notice you long before you notice them.

Cazadores are fast, aggressive and poisonous, and here you meet them in numbers. Their poison stacks and drains health over time, so carry antivenom or plenty of healing and fight from maximum range with a weapon that can take their wings off. Explosives and shotguns at close range help if they reach you, but ideally they never do.

The rewards are experience, cazador poison glands and some real loot: an adventurer's pack and an explosives crate beside the skeleton, plus a small camp on the hill to the northwest with a locked ammunition box and a locked mine box. Most players route around the nest, but if you want the challenge, come back at a higher level with the Entomologist perk, which boosts damage against insects.

How to get there

West of Ranger Station Delta, in the hills between El Dorado Gas & Service and the station; you will hear the cazadores before you see them.

Tips

  • Carry antivenom or lots of healing; poison stacks.
  • Entomologist and a high damage rifle make this manageable at higher levels.
  • Target the wings in V.A.T.S. to ground them.
