Boulder City was a quiet town until the first battle of Hoover Dam, when NCR rangers lured the advancing Legion into it and detonated explosives planted through the streets. The victory cost the town itself, and today most of Boulder City is a fenced off field of rubble with a memorial out front honoring the troopers who died there. A few buildings survive on the edge, including the Big Horn Saloon run by Ike.
The town is a key stop on the main story. The Great Khans who helped Benny shoot you have holed up in the ruins with NCR hostages, and Lieutenant Monroe wants the situation resolved. In Boulder City Showdown you can negotiate with Jessup, trade the hostages for safe passage or go in shooting, and either way you learn that Benny has gone back to the Tops in New Vegas. Jessup can also hand over Benny's lighter if you talk him down.
Boulder City is NCR territory, so Legion friendly players should expect a frosty reception. Beyond the main quest it is a good spot to buy drinks at the saloon, read the memorial and catch your breath, and it sits on the road to Hoover Dam. The ruins connect to Ranger Station Delta to the south and the Lake Mead shoreline to the north.
How to get there
Follow the highway southeast from the 188 Trading Post toward Hoover Dam; the fenced ruins and memorial are on the way.
