El Dorado Gas & Service is a wrecked pre-War Poseidon Energy filling station on Highway 95, northeast of HELIOS One and southwest of Boulder City, at the edge of El Dorado Dry Lake. The pumps are dry and the shelves are mostly picked clean, but there is a campfire, some makeshift beds and storage containers, and a Sunset Sarsaparilla star cap by the cash register.
The station is not empty. Two Viper gunslingers and a Viper leader camp near the gas station sign, and a prospector sometimes wanders by. The Cazador Nest lies in the hills to the east and the open dry lake to the west gives you no cover, so deal with the Vipers, grab what loot there is and keep moving unless you have the healing to back it up.
The main reason to know this place is the Lonesome Drifter, the wandering guitarist who sits beside a Sunset Sarsaparilla billboard just north of the station. He is one of the performers you can recruit for the Tops in Talent Pool, and passing a 50 Barter check while recruiting him gets him to hand over his unique revolver, the Mysterious Magnum. El Dorado Gas & Service is the nearest fast travel point for reaching him.
How to get there
Follow Highway 95 south from the 188 Trading Post; the station is beside the road at the edge of El Dorado Dry Lake.
