Deserted Shack

Empty shack in the hills south of Lake Las Vegas. Minor loot and a quiet corner, mostly worth a stop for the map marker.

The Deserted Shack is a dilapidated hut of rusted metal and wooden poles in the rocky hills south of Lake Las Vegas and north of the 188 Trading Post. Whoever built it is long gone, though a prospector usually hangs around outside and a radio still plays Mojave Music Radio. Do not expect much beyond the odd bit of scrap or food left by the last person to pass through.

Danger is light but not absent. The surrounding area is mostly rocks and cliffs where random wildlife can wander in, and the shack offers no real cover if something follows you to the door, so check your surroundings before you settle in.

Use the Deserted Shack as a waypoint. It sits in an awkward stretch of the map that is otherwise empty, so having a fast travel point here makes it easier to reach Mountain Shadows Campground, the 188 and the road toward Boulder City. Completionists will want it for their map, and anyone roleplaying a drifter gets a believable hideout far from the factions.

How to get there

From the 188 Trading Post head north into the hills, or skirt Lake Las Vegas and head south from Camp Golf.

Tips

  • Check the rocks around you before settling in; the shack gives little cover.
  • Mainly a fast travel point for the empty stretch between Camp Golf and the 188.
