Ivanpah Dry Lake is a wide, empty stretch of dry lakebed south of Primm and east of the Nevada Highway Patrol Station. Despite its settlement-style map marker, nobody lives here. Its only real feature is a small hill in the middle with a harvestable honey mesquite and a burned-out car that has a suitcase in the back seat and a stash toolbox beside it. The rest is flat, open desert.

Bark scorpions and giant ants patrol the flats. Neither is especially tough once you have a decent gun, but the lakebed offers no cover, so deal with them at range before they close in. Barrel cactus and jalapeño pepper plants grow around the area, which makes it a handy stop for Survival ingredients if you are passing between Primm, the highway patrol station and the roads to the south.

How to get there

From the Nevada Highway Patrol Station, walk east off Interstate 15 onto the flat lakebed.

Notable loot

  • Suitcase (back seat of the burned-out car)
  • Stash toolbox (next to the car)
  • Honey mesquite, barrel cactus and jalapeño pepper plants

Tips

  • Harvest the jalapeños and barrel cactus for Survival recipes.
  • There is no cover on the flats, so shoot ants and scorpions before they reach you.
