The NCR Sharecropper Farms are fields of maize and junk-walled greenhouses on NCR-owned land just south of Freeside's East Gate. Sharecroppers work the crops, and a small barracks in the northeast corner of the fenced area holds the NCR staff under Lieutenant Romanowski. There are no hostile creatures here, and the farms sit close to Camp McCarran, so most players pass through early while exploring the outskirts of the city.
The farms have two problems, and both lead to quests. The water ration is coming in short because someone is siphoning it, which connects to The White Wash and the disappearance of Corporal White, who went to Westside while investigating. Radiation is also seeping into the soil and stunting the crops, and Morgan Blake will ask you to find the source in Hard Luck Blues, a trail that runs through the East Pump Station into Vault 34.
Loot is light but worth the detour. The barracks has a Chinese Army: Special Ops Training Manual on the floor near the south wall and a Sunset Sarsaparilla star bottle cap on a desk near the eastern door. Maize and honey mesquite pods grow in and around the greenhouses, and picking them carries no karma or NCR reputation penalty, even where the plants are marked as owned.
How to get there
Walk out of Freeside's East Gate and head directly south into the fields.
