New Vegas Steel is a pre-war steel mill on the southwestern edge of the city, between Camp McCarran and Vault 3 and east of the Poseidon gas station. Its tall smokestacks and sheet metal buildings are easy to spot from the McCarran fence. The plant still runs with a robot staff: a terminal inside shows a factory automation test that has been going for two hundred and four years.
The mill sits squarely in Fiend country, with Vault 3 and the South Vegas ruins close by, so expect Fiend patrols around the yard and on the road to the West Pump Station. Inside, two crazed Mister Handy robots and three Mr Steel robots attack on sight and respawn every three days, and the vats of glowing steel kill you instantly if you fall in. Loot includes a Sunset Sarsaparilla star cap and a Patriot's Cookbook on a desk downstairs, 400 units of flamer fuel upstairs, and copies of Programmer's Digest, Tæles of Chivalrie and Fixin' Things in the office storage bins.
How to get there
From Camp McCarran head west a short distance; the smokestacks of the mill are visible from the base's fence.
Tips
- Expect Fiend patrols outside and crazed Mister Handies and Mr Steel robots inside.
- Stay away from the vats of glowing steel inside; falling in kills you instantly.
