Nopah Cave is a small cave southeast of Chance's Map, in the hills west of the South Vegas ruins near Vault 3. These ancient caverns were once famous for trilobite fossils. The entrance opens into a narrow passage that leads to an empty chamber, which then branches into several side sections littered with skeletons and debris.
The cave is a fire gecko den. A few guard the entrance and each side chamber holds a group of them, often up to nine, and they breathe fire at close range. Clear it room by room from as far back as you can rather than rushing in.
In the back of the left chamber lies a dead super mutant master carrying a badly damaged Fat Man, though there are no mini nukes anywhere in the cave. A skeleton nearby has an adventurer's pack with some loot. No quest leads here, so it is mostly for explorers and anyone filling in the map around Chance's Map and Vault 3.
How to get there
In the hills west of the South Vegas ruins; from Chance's Map head southeast to the cave entrance.
Tips
- Fire geckos breathe fire; keep your distance and fight from range.
- Check the dead super mutant master in the left chamber for a damaged Fat Man.
