The Northern Passage is a cave entrance in the hills north of North Vegas Square and east-northeast of the Horowitz Farmstead. In the base game there is little to see: a grave, a couple of banana yucca plants and a hollowed-out rock with some random loot and the words 'The sun is killing me' written on it. The tunnel itself is sealed by a barrier of fallen rocks, and there is no way through.

With the Honest Hearts add-on installed, the rocks are cleared and the cave becomes the starting point for the trip to Zion Canyon. Jed Masterson of the Happy Trails Caravan Company waits inside with Ricky, Stella and a few caravan guards, and he will take you on after you hear his radio job offer. The first trip has to be made with the caravan and there is a carry weight limit, so a shipping crate by the entrance lets you leave gear behind.

How to get there

From North Vegas Square, head north into the hills; the cave mouth lies east-northeast of the Horowitz Farmstead.

Tips

  • A Survival check or the Strong Back or Pack Rat perk can convince Jed to raise the weight limit.
