Powder Ganger Camp South is one of several small camps the escaped convicts of the NCR Correctional Facility have scattered around the prison, this one to the southwest. It is a rough shelter made from an overturned train container leaning against a rock, with two big sheets of scrap as a roof, a usable bed in the back and a campfire out front. The Powder Gangers use camps like this to watch the roads and shake down travelers.

The camp is held by a few Powder Gangers armed with the gang's usual kit: dynamite, pistols, varmint rifles and improvised melee weapons. Dynamite is the main danger at low level, because a lucky stick can take most of a new Courier's health, so engage at range and keep moving. Their bedrolls and footlockers hold caps, chems, ammunition and often extra dynamite you can put to use yourself.

During I Fought the Law, Eddie's first task sends you here to meet Chavez and three of his crew; Chavez is not at the camp before the quest starts. Clearing the camp instead makes the road between Goodsprings and Primm safer and fits with working against the gang for the Republic, though attacking it costs you reputation with the Powder Gangers. Look for a Lad's Life in the box of books by the bed, and climb the roof pieces onto the train car for a good view.

How to get there

From the NCR Correctional Facility head southwest; look for the overturned train car leaning against a rock.
