The Mesquite Mountains Crater was left by one of the few nuclear warheads that slipped past Mr. House's defenses during the Great War and struck the desert around Las Vegas. It lies southwest of Primm and north of the Mesquite Mountains Camp Site. The pools of water at the bottom are heavily irradiated, and feral ghouls, roamers and reavers wander the crater at all times, which makes it a rough stop for low-level characters.
A small shack called Hell's Motel stands on the southwest side of the crater, with a star bottle cap on the kitchen table. To the east is an improvised shelter with a bed and a first aid box, and below the eastern cliff is a makeshift shack with a motorcycle, where you can find copies of Fixin' Things and Programmer's Digest plus a second star cap in a wooden box. Bring RadAway and stay out of the pools.
How to get there
From the California Sunset Drive-in, head west-southwest into the Mesquite Mountains until the ground drops into the crater.
Notable loot
- Two Sunset Sarsaparilla star bottle caps (Hell's Motel kitchen and the shack below the east cliff)
- Fixin' Things and Programmer's Digest (makeshift shack below the east cliff)
Tips
- Pack RadAway; the water in the crater is heavily irradiated.
- Fight the ghoul reavers from range and keep moving.
- Check the shack below the eastern cliff for two skill magazines.
