The South Cistern is a small waterworks building east of The Thorn and south-southwest of the H&H Tools Factory, on the city's edge between Westside and the Strip. Like most cisterns in the Mojave, it has a large central pipe emptying into a trough. The water in the trough is irradiated, but the water from the valve is clean, which makes this a handy place to drink without picking up radiation.
Apart from the valve there is little here: a few broken shelves, a desk and junk such as tin cans and empty bottles. An NCR military policeman and an NCR trooper hang around inside and talk as if you could gamble with them, though there is no option to do so. They sometimes walk out toward Freeside through North Vegas Square when you arrive, and now and then they end up fighting groups of Fiends outside.
How to get there
From The Thorn's manhole outside Westside, walk east to the small cistern building.
Notable loot
- Clean water from the valve
Tips
- Drink from the valve, not the trough, to avoid radiation.
- Fast travel here for a short walk to The Thorn or to Westside's south gate.
