The New Vegas Strip is the restored stretch of old Las Vegas that Mr. House shielded from the bombs and later rebuilt with three local tribes, who became the Omertas, the Chairmen and the White Glove Society. This marker is the Strip North Gate, reached by walking through Freeside, and the only other way in is the monorail from the NCR base at Camp McCarran. Securitrons and NCR military police patrol every section.

Getting through the gate takes some planning. The Securitrons run a credit check and admit anyone carrying at least 2,000 caps, without taking the money. Other options are hacking the greeter with 80 Science, showing a New Vegas passport, which Ralph at Mick & Ralph's can forge or the King can arrange after G.I. Blues, or riding the monorail if the NCR likes you. Fighting the gate Securitrons turns every Securitron on the Strip hostile.

Inside are the Lucky 38, Gomorrah, the Tops and the Ultra-Luxe, plus the Vault 21 hotel, the NCR Embassy and Michael Angelo's workshop. The main quest brings you here in Ring-a-Ding-Ding!, when you track Benny to the Tops, and this is where you meet Mr. House and start choosing who will rule the Mojave. The casino families have quests of their own, such as How Little We Know at Gomorrah and Beyond the Beef at the Ultra-Luxe.

How to get there

Walk through Freeside to its southern end and talk to the Securitron greeter at the Strip North Gate.

Tips

  • Never shoot the gate Securitrons, or every Securitron on the Strip turns on you.
  • If you enter once by the Camp McCarran monorail, the gate lets you through freely afterward.
