Spring Mt. Ranch State Park is a pre-war public park in the western Mojave, northwest of Bonnie Springs and between the tribal village and Red Rock Canyon. A gravel road leads to fenced scrubland, a parking area and two ruined buildings, and farther west are picnic areas and a small lake overrun by giant mantises, with a few cazadores and grazing bighorners nearby. A burned-down house in front of the lake has some minor loot in its dresser.
The real reason to come is the Great Khan armory. A cellar door on the north side of the destroyed house to the northeast leads down to it, with a workbench and a reloading bench, and with Accepted or better reputation with the Great Khans you can trade with the Great Khan armorer inside. Past the lake a trail leads into the mountains and on to Red Rock Canyon, so the park also works as a back way to the Khans.
How to get there
From Bonnie Springs head northwest toward the cliffs; the park sits between the tribal village and Red Rock Canyon, and a trail past the lake leads up to the canyon.
Tips
- Giant mantises and a few cazadores roam around the lake; bring antivenom.
- Look for the cellar door on the north side of the ruined house to the northeast; it leads to the Great Khan armory.
